As the easing of coronavirus restrictions sees a large number of people returning to the office, it is important we all take the necessary steps to help us get back to work safely.
Whether you are returning full time or embracing a new hybrid way of working, maintaining office hygiene will become a priority and new habits will need to be adopted.
Regularly clean surfaces
Ensuring the workplace is regularly cleaned is vital. Frequent cleaning of work areas, objects and surfaces ensures the rate of transmission remains low. Keeping surfaces clear will ensure that cleaning can be carried out more effectively.
Identify high touch point areas
Door handles, elevator buttons, handrails and light switches are just some of the areas that you and your colleagues come into contact with the most. These high transmissions sites are key areas that need to be regularly wiped down. Use a disinfectant spray, such as NatraSan, so you can wipe down and clean as you go. NatraSan comes in a handy spray bottle and, as it kills 99.9999% of germs on contact, you can be assured you’re helping to protect you and your colleagues.
Maintain hand hygiene
We should all know by now that regularly washing your hands reduces the risk of catching and spreading viruses. Touching contaminated surfaces can transmit germs to other surfaces or directly to colleagues. Good hand hygiene means regularly washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before drying them. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitiser.
Ventilation alone won’t prevent the spread of Covid and other viruses, but it certainly helps to maintain office hygiene as it removes stale, used air and replaces it with fresh air. Where practical, in buildings without mechanical ventilation systems, you should keep windows open to increase ventilation.
Despite the relaxation of social distancing rules, it is still advised to limit the number of face-to-face contacts and reduce the number of people in an area. Using back-to-back or side-to-side working instead of face-to-face is continuing to be rolled out across offices to enable employees to feel comfortable in their working environment.
The months ahead will continue to be a learning curve for all of us, but by following precautions and adapting our routine, we can all play our part in maintaining office hygiene and ultimately create a safer working environment. NatraSan comes in a variety of sizes and can be purchased from our online shop or by calling 0800 707 6883 to place a telephone order.
